Vietnam’s leather and footwear sector reached 19.54 billion dollars in exports during the first eight months of 2026, a 2.4% increase year-on-year, according to multiple local media reports. The result keeps the country on track toward an ambitious annual target even as monthly volumes fluctuate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sector recorded more than 2.45 billion dollars in exports in August 2026 alone \u2014 down 9% from July but up 3% compared with the same month last year. Footwear exports reached an estimated 16.20 billion dollars over the eight-month period, increasing 1% from a year earlier, while handbags, suitcases and umbrellas performed better, rising 12% to 3.34 billion dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The United States remained Vietnam’s largest market, importing 6.46 billion dollars worth of footwear and 1.55 billion dollars of handbags, suitcases and umbrellas.
