Stella International Holdings, the Hong Kong-listed manufacturer behind the footwear lines of many global brands, reported unaudited consolidated revenue of US$412.9 million for the three months to 30 September — a modest 2.2% increase against the same period a year earlier. It is the kind of number that reassures investors without exciting them, and it tells a more complicated story underneath the headline.

A price-driven gain, not a volume one

Strip the result down and the growth was earned almost entirely through pricing, not through shipping more shoes. The company’s footwear manufacturing business — its core engine — generated US$396.7 million in the quarter, up just 1.2% year on year. That slender rise was powered by a 6.0% jump in the average selling price (ASP), reflecting a deliberate shift toward higher-value products, especially in the sports segment, as well as elevated raw-material costs being passed downstream.

The catch is on the volume side: shipments fell 4.3% over the period. Higher prices lifted the top line, but fewer pairs left the factories. Stella was candid about why. Production for a casual-customer programme was pulled forward into the first half of the year, ahead of the phased closure of the group’s footwear factory in the Philippines, which began in July. In other words, a one-off reshuffling of the manufacturing footprint temporarily dented quarterly output.

Nine months: growth on paper, caution in reality

Zoom out to the first nine months and the picture is similarly mixed. Total unaudited consolidated revenue reached US$1.19 billion, down 1.7% compared with the same stretch of 2025. Footwear manufacturing revenue, at US$1.16 billion, actually rose 1.6% year on year — but that was achieved on the back of a 1.4% drop in shipment volumes and a 2.9% rise in ASP. The pattern is consistent: Stella is selling fewer units at higher prices, and the strategy is holding the line rather than expanding it.

For a contract manufacturer whose margins live and die by utilisation and mix, this is a defensible position. Brands are trading up, raw materials are dearer, and Stella is capturing the value even if the box count shrinks. But it also signals that demand from key customers is not yet roaring back.

The real story: a 20-million-pair bet on Asia

Where the quarter’s narrative truly points is capacity. Stella used the results to reaffirm its Three-Year Plan (2026–2028), an ambitious programme to diversify and enlarge its manufacturing base across lower-cost, brand-friendly locations. A new factory in Vietnam, built to serve a premium sportswear customer, began operations in the third quarter, with output expected to scale through 2027. Two further factories — in Indonesia and Bangladesh — are scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2026. Together with the group’s existing Solo, Indonesia plant, the new sites are projected to add roughly 20 million pairs of annual production capacity.

Chief Executive Officer Chi Lo-Jen framed the investment as the foundation for the group’s next phase. “Our capacity expansion investments in 2026 have positioned Stella for its next phase of growth, in line with our current Three-Year Plan,” he said, noting that the new Vietnam facility plus the soon-to-open Indonesia and Bangladesh plants will sharpen the group’s ability to serve leading global brands “while enabling us to capture higher-value opportunities.”

Reading the tea leaves

There is a clear logic to the move. As brands diversify sourcing away from China and toward a Vietnam–Indonesia–Bangladesh triangle, the manufacturer that can offer scale, speed and compliance across all three wins the mandates. Stella is essentially pre-building the capacity it believes brands will need, betting that a recovery in order volumes will meet a ready-made footprint rather than a constrained one.

The risk, of course, is timing. If customer demand stays soft, 20 million pairs of new capacity becomes 20 million pairs of idle overhead. For now, Stella is choosing to invest through the cycle rather than wait for it — a confident call from a company that has navigated plenty of downturns before.

For the broader footwear supply chain, the signal is worth noting: the centre of gravity in contract shoe production continues to shift across Southeast Asia, and the manufacturers with the deepest, most diversified networks are the ones writing the next chapter. Stella’s Q3 may have been modest, but its bet on the next three years is anything but.

Source: World Footwear (worldfootwear.com)

Stella International posted 2.2% Q3 revenue growth to $412.9M, ASP up 6% offsetting lower volumes, with 20M pairs of Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh capacity.

[4
1759,1760,86,1758,1535,1022,1026,1757
post-3087","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-industry-news","tag-average-selling-price","tag-footwear-capacity","tag-footwear-manufacturing","tag-indonesia-bangladesh","tag-revenue-growth","tag-stella-international","tag-three-year-plan","tag-vietnam-factory
["GET
